Tall ships

Covered the Dana Point tall ship festival yesterday.! Pretty blustery day so went and chased some saily thing first. (Seems they were having a tough time of it .)
By the time the tall ships got out ,the light was fading fast and the heavy swell made photography a little "Challenging" (have bruises on the inside of both knees from hanging onto the pod seat while being battered around)
Got in great position several times ready for the cannon fire ;only to be spoiled by some hardboater full of idiots, cutting straight in front of the loaded guns to wave,
Several times the ships had to hold fire ,or risk peppering the morons with wadding and blast.
So a little frustrating and tiring, but worth it to see 6 or 7 of these great ships out there.
cheers Dal

Love the first photo of Magic Carpet Ride. That must be one of those new Spinnakers that are used to take advantage of tidal currents for power!

Think it's the new xtreme sport of seine fish-netting
Go for a sail and catch dinner at the same time
In his defense it was a touch blustery;here's me leaving the harbor

Terrific shots Dal... They make me want to take up sailing again!

Have you ever crossed paths with Sharon Greene? She's a widely published sailing photographer. She got started around the yacht club I belonged to years ago and I sailed with her Dad...
