1st Annual Long Island Sound RIB Rendezvous

Well, here we go again -

If any of you recall, we attempted to organize a Long Island Sound RIB Rendezvous back in August 2005 - things just didn't work out.

So now we're at it again -

Is there anyone out there interested in participating in a Long Island Sound RIB Rendezvous on Saturday, September 22, 2007? This is the same weekend as the 2007 Norwalk International In-Water Boat Show (please see www.boatshownorwalk.com).

If there is sufficient interest, I will get started with coordinating a departure from the municipal launch ramp at Norwalk's Veterans' Memorial Park and accommodations at one of the many hotels in our area. FYI - The Veterans' Memorial Park boat launch ramp is a first-class facility that is within walking distance of the many restaurants and pubs in SONO.

Possible stops for this event include the Sheffield Island Lighthouse in Norwalk and the Huntington Harbor Lighthouse over on the north shore of Long Island.

This event would benefit the ongoing efforts of the non-profit organizations that are restoring these enduring symbols of our nation's maritime heritage (please see www.seaport.org and www.huntingtonlighthouse.org). In addition to their restoration efforts, both organizations are also kept busy preparing the next generation of lightkeepers for their turn on watch.

If you are interested in being a part of the 1st Annual Long Island Sound RIB Rendezvous, please post a reply to this thread or e-mail me directly at barry@soundnavigation.com.

Thanks and have a good summer.

We may be interested in joining. We live in the Hartford area, so would drive down for the day and leave in the evening. To be honest, it's difficult to for me to plan that far ahead, but at this juncture there is interest.
