Waterproof 25amp dash connector

Hey all,

Looking to tap into the vast knowledge of boat or caravan bits perhaps on here.

I need to add at least a 25amp connector to the dash and like the idea of Powerpole, I can't find them here though so wondering if anyone has anything similar before I order these from across the pond and pay a fortune for shipping and taxes.

I realise these are not "waterproof" but open to suggestions that are suitable.

Is that not just a flush mount Anderson connector, very commonly found on boats, off road vehicles, etc.?

That is indeed what it it is but the square ones look $hit

i can only find the round ones across the pond but taxes and shipping is a killer but may have to just go there.

I want one with a cover that fits into a cig lighter size ish opening/mount, I.e the pictured one (It has a cover btw not pictured)

Nice - I did look for Bulgins, and have several lower amperage ones fitted on our sailing yacht that are superb, but couldn't instantly find 25A ones! I obviously didn't hunt hard enough.

I'm not looking for usb sockets, already got those bud. I want a dash connector for my bravo pump

Not a fan of bulgin I had previously (I took a 10amp version off months ago) but this one is an option for sure if I want it in UK.

sorry mate just looked at pic looked like usb's, i have a 20 amp cigar lighter socket on mine with a sealed cap not submersible but good enough wont that do

Yes the bravo is 20 amps but I still want 25 amp minimum, this isn't only thing going in this socket long term. (Hence I may get the dual powerpole)

Never seen a cig lighter rated at 20 amps through, lot of power to bang through one of those.

They might be able to get the housing but it isn't on their website.

They also do some large Superseal connectors but I don't know how you would keep them captive

I though about a shore power connector but they are a bonkers price.

The problem is I don't think Anderson make that circular thing, I think it is powerwerx and they are USA only.

I will order something next week.

Paul could you not fabricate a consul housing for the Anderson plugs using an old gauge or something. [emoji106]

Usually i have found when you are looking for something no one seems to make ,it usually turns out its not made because no one wants or needs one , personally i would put an ammeter in line while you are pumping what you plan to use it for and see how many amps you are drawing ,i cant believe that pump draws 20 amps in normal duty , it would be a design disaster ,you can always protect a lower capability plug and socket with a relevant fuse if you know what the current reqirement is ! and your needs are catered for.

20 amps is a design disaster how?

Doesn't seem bad to me for what it is?

Given 15 amp fuses blow their rating is probably close (it isn't in their interest to incorrectly spec it surely?)

I have an inline watt meter good to 150 amps here so I'll put it on for a nosey next time I'm at boat.

If the pump has a 200W motor, for example, it will draw 17 Amps. Could you get a more efficient motor? Probably - but it would be double the price and people aren't willing to pay that amount.

Are you putting some kind of isolator/switch in the circuit? The connectors won’t last long if they are exposed to the elements with power to them.

I'm considering ordering a 3d printer so I may make something, but patience isn't my strong suit.

They are not exposed, they are under a cover. Won't be ip68 but good enough for my use if I don't go the bulgin route (as I said, not a fan of them but for my inbound light bar bulgin will probably be better)

They will be off when boat on trailer, I never leave batts on.

Not going to isolate them other than into the boats fuse box and master switch. Bulgin will be same gig.
