Dont want something cheap and cheerful but at the same time there isn't a blank cheque if you get my drift. Not sure what money they go for to be honest. Would have to take a looksee first but would prefer to look at something that someone had used and could recommend from good experience.

Try the Garmin 550 range - very good GPS/fishfinder combo and now comes with pre-loaded UK/Ireland bluechart!!! I have the previous model has been very good thus far - you should be able to buy the above for £450 quid.

It's not easy to recommend without a price but for something at real base level-monochrome GPS+fishfinder/sounder but no map-for around £150 if you can find someone still selling the Eagle Cuda 240.

If you want all the bells/whistles expact to pay £400+ for a base level colour screen GPS/fishfinder unit-though I just found this on Ebay which is worth grabbing.

Importing one from the USA is also an option-but if you do, make sure you've factored in the cost of the UK maps you'll need for it. Either that or make sure that it's got a world map as a base map rather than a US base map if you don't want to pay for a map at first.

Just by way of explanation the boat is fitted with an Eagle Magna 3 fishfinder but the cable to the transducer has been damaged. Apart from that the unit works fine. Is it possible to just replace the transducer and if so can anyone point me in the direction of a supplier please? If it cant be repaired then I was going to buy a new combo unit.

If you google 'Eagle Cuda' (pages from the UK) you'll come up with loads of dealers for Eagle gear. If it's available, they'll be able to get you a transducer.

However, if you wanted to sell the base unit,I googled Eagle magna 3 and I found this guy on ebay looking for just the base unit.

I've done the Google thing and found a supplier for the transducer. It will be with me tomorrow morning. Saved a few quid there, thanks for the heads up.
