Griffin Defender for a 5.
I had an Otterbox on my 3, it was excellent, I bought one for my 5, it was useless. It filled with grit and dust constantly and I had to regularly taken it apart and clean the thing.

The camera flap is fiddly on the Defender, but it's otherwise good.

I have a "lifeproof" and never been able to fault it! It's been in countless swimming pools, off the back of a snorkelling boat in the Great Barrier Reef and down a waterfall in Thailand let alone in my pocket through stormy beach Landings in the zodiac!!

Plus one for the Lifeproof.

After about two years the sound can get a little muffled. Never been able to clean them enough to get the sound quality back but they look pretty worn by this stage anyway.

I really get my money out of them. I have had them for my 4 and my 5S and my ipad.

I had purchased one on eBay that was supposedly genuine and the touch screen didn't work right and the sound was awful so beware of fakes.

Had two life proofs for mr iphone5 the first one was useless affected too many phone functions!! they sent me another that had different bits of foam stuck inside , have worn it out now though... The rubber has all peeled off the edges and screen scratched to bits. Phone stayed dry in it but does not function 100% all sorts of little issues.. Phones nearly two years old so have given up on the cover and am risking it unprotected..
Having said that the bloody phone is useless at the best of times!

Hmmm,

Griffin stuff looks good - but no waterproof case for the 5 yet as far as I can see on their website :-(

On my second lifeproof now, not as massive as the Griffin, well designed for everday use, got about 18 months out of it.

My vote is for the Otterbox with metal clasp hinges. At the start of a 70 mile jaunt force 6 on the nose it fell off my console bounced around on the deck for a few waves then spent the rest of the journey in the bilge well. All fine. Missed a few calls which was even better.

I know its not a iPhone case, but iPad case - I have a lifeproof case and had a fault with it - I lost the rubber charge port bit. I did some google reserch and found they supply replacements so I contacted them and they sent me a full new case in the post!
