Might have better luck with a wire rope, rigid enough to feed but flexible enough that it might go round the corner.
Wrap the tip with tape to make a point.

This sort of thing - I bought some recently for another job:

Although if you're going to be in Cornwall you might find a chandlers or marine workshop that will sell/let you have a left over of rigging wire of sufficient length to give it a try.
If you're going to be anywhere near Falmouth there's plenty of them in Penryn or try Macsalvors who I've used for various bits & pieces.

Having pulled and toffees many a duct there will be a way but the fibreglass rods especially the cheap ones are no good needs to be “fish tape” and even then may need some persuasion if the bends are tight and jammed full conduit should never be more than 50% full ………

Thanks for the further advice. For the moment I have run out of time as I am off to Fowey tomorrow to join some other ribbers down there for the week, and I needed a working VHF. I will have another go at running the cable through the duct after I come back. I’ll let you know of any progress!

A 300mm cable tie with the end cut off and taped to the fish rods may give it enough flexibility to go around corners and the fibreglass rod will follow

Reading this thread fills me with dread, as I potentially have two dodgy coax runs on our Ribcraft which need to be replaced. Both of them run down through the A frame in that stupid cable wrap stuff. The hole that the cables enter the A frame through are barely big enough for the bundle of cables, so I'm very apprehensive of using the existing cable to pull the new cable through

Actually running the new cable through the A frame was not a problem. I simply pulled a cord through with the old wire and pulled a new wire with the cord. The problem was running the cable through the underfloor duct from the entry on the starboard stern to the console. I tried all the devices mentioned in this thread, and never even got past the first turn. There is soooo much stuff going through it! I have sold the boat now, and the new owner was going to hand it to a professional to do the job.

My only advice would be that if your exiting coax could be used, I would stick with that. Both of my coax cables in the duct were showing open circuit, even when I cut them near to the duct entries, so it was not an option for me.

Argh. It's obviously something that's possible, as our boat originally came with one aerial from the factory, and a second was installed later. Both cables go through the A frame, one each side.
