Problem with wiring,electrics,everything.

Hello there I just bought Ribs 8.6 with Yamaha V8 350 HP engine, and everything is a mess.

Somebody took of dashboard with all wirings, conectors, there is no ignition key or lock, nothing. I got also no power to front of boat,i mean to dashboard..

And i am wondering, can i start this engine with out ignition key,i mean like hot wiring cables on engine? To see does engine works like it should be

Well that should be possible, all the key does is allow power to the engine and starter motor. But you will need a wiring diagram to check which ones. See if you can pop over to a dealer local to you.

You will need to buy some bits anyway to put it all back together.

Google is your friend!

Just make sure you are looking at the right vintage (year).

My guess is if it's an older one you could replace the key / choke etc with "off the shelf" items for many electrical / automotive parts store, but if it's a "fly by wire" it might get more interesting......

It is fly by wire, but i think it must start somehow without component like original ignition lock or dashboard panel..

wilifish,you like to drink?

On the contrary . It would seem Wilfie has not started to imbibe as yet today, but rather wants to demonstrate his understanding of higher maths .
( Either that or he is a Tom Hanks Fan ! )

Wilfie would probably tell you that when it comes to Binary Coding , there are 10 sorts of people.......those that understand it & those that don't !

Fibbo , did you actually buy the boat in that condition ?

For fear of being shot down for what I've going to suggest, but can I advise giving no information on how to "hotwire" any outboard or engine on the open forum please. This might give criminals an idea on how to circumvent manufacturers security measures and give a potential thief valuable info.

Fibonacci, I know it's not very helpful of me but I would take your engine to a dealer and get them to have a look at supplying all the bits you need. It sounds like you got a bargain RIB and Outboard and with a little investment you'll get all the proper kit you need to operate your outboard and RIB reliably.

This may be a daft question...

...is there power to the engine? i.e. is the battery charged? and is the isolator switch turned on?

And does it have an imobiliser...
Y-COP

And is there a fuse?

Is there a reason you want to hotwire it. I'm assuming you're going to rig the boat to use so why not get the loom. You're going to need one eventually

A Yamaha of that age does it not have an Immobiliser? I seem to remember that some Fly by Wire Yam's do. I am sure it's a seperate key type FoB.

Matt h,dont talk stupid, for all i know, you could be a serial killer. I am not a thief,i just want it for now to start this shit, thats all.

Immobiliser is missing also, everything under dash panel is a mess,i got one cabel which goes from engine,13 pin,i have here power, but i cant start it like on simple electric wiring on older cars or so..

I have found something on web,it is from 2012. models, something very similar i have it,check this out: http://www.riverteam.ru/price/Riggin...ide%202012.pdf

Fibonacci - you have an engine and no controls. A lot of people on this forum have had engines stolen, finding themselves with controls and no engine. Don't be surprised if some are a little wary of you, they are probably wondering how your engine and it's controls became separated originally, before you "got it from a friend". The advice to take it to a dealer is good - and yet you don't like that idea...

Oh I can see how that would make you popular.

He might be - but he's not asking you to tell him how to kill people so your analogy falls down a little there.

PikeyD - I think you may need to renumber your rules. Rule 0, Rule 1, Rule 1, Rule 2...
