Personal epirb

Evening.

We are planning some longer trips this year and mrs zippy is a little nervous as she hasn't spent that many hours ribbing.

I am trying to get as well prepared as possible hence the gps and hand held posts.

Has anyone got a personal epirb? Any benefit over a regular epirb for a rib?

Thanks
zippy

I do.

I bought one for the following reasons:

1. Cost (not the primary decider)
2. It's personal. If I fall out, I get to call it in.
3. It's transferable. I made a 50 Nm trip today in a borrowed boat, PLB was in my pocket.
4. It's "multi-tasking", mine goes hillwalking too.

If you buy a PLB, make sure it is GPS enabled. The CG speak VERY highly of them.

Obviously, an EPIRB has it's advantages. On a boat like yours, for offshore cruising, I'd have both!
