Navman / Northstar imports

Hi does anyone have any experience / advice regarding purchasing navman stuff from abroad (Canada).

I know there will be a few that will advise against Navman however its what we used in the last boat and happy with the way it works.

Im aware of the problems with channels on Vhf however the units are marked for ce / uk use.

Im especially interested in a chartplotter / ais / and vhf 7200 - as the track buddie feature looks usefull.

Could there be warranty issues?

With a potentially large saving i thought it be worth asking the question before parting with the cash.

Bear in mind that you may get stung for import duty and VAT when you import this stuff.

K&S,

We recently installed the Northstar M84 multifunction display with a 2kw radome and the fish finder transducer. We had installed the Navman instruments three years ago and have not had any problems so felt comfortable going with the Northstar Explorer series equipment. We also installed the VHF 720 with the remote microphone and like both units very much. The buddy track feature works great. We also installed the Sitex AIS Engine which integrated nicely with the M84. We had a few installation hurdles and Ron at Northstar's technical support was of great help. He was able to answer all our questions and provided some tips on the installation.

Almost all of our equipment, including the autopilot are either Navman or Northstar equipment and so far so good.
