Navionics for ipad

I have just downloaded this app on to my iPad 2 and find it a really useful app. Just as a test a used it whilst driving around in some remote areas of Cornwall with steep valleys. The battery charge was at 90% when I started the tracking. After 4 hrs of solid use the battery was still at 62% and the GPS never lost signal once.
If you use it in a waterproof case I would say it's a very good back up for £40
The only downside is you would have to slow or stop to use it on the water as fixing it to a console would be difficult.

There are plenty of iPad holders, with suction or screw on bases available. I got mine off eBay, but you might want to see one up close to ensure suitability for the boat shock/motion.

I've also found it to be very useful. Can recommend.

I use it on my iPhone as my iPad doesn't use GPS nor GSM, I find it as accurate as my Raymarine just not as detailed.
