mercury vessel view

has anyone used mercury vessel view mobile thinking of getting it and mounting an old android phone on a mountain bike phone holder on the console frame .i am mainly interested in the fuel flow and balancing trim and rpm to see where my best economy area is the other functions would be useful too . i see its a wiring loom with a black box but would i need to add other sensors to measure fuel flow fuel range ect or is it plug and play. cheers

It depends on the age of your engine and how Smartcraft compatible it is.
Vessel view is basically a Bluetooth Smartcraft gauge.

I run vessel view displayed on my chart plotters, love the graphics, details and the info available, far-superior to the generic chart plotters engine displays. I appreciate its not the mobile version but I’ve been impressed 👍

Like Lee I run Mercury View Link but in my case with Lowrance HDS love 12 and 9 - love the clean look of the console and prefer it to the generic engine data

For the fuel rate I use the Smartcraft data on fuel consumption rather than the fuel sender so it counts down from the full

I tend to run VV on the smaller screen opposite of which is shown here

Another way of doing it is with a MercMonitor which gives you the engine data on any modern chart plotter (not just navionics brands).

Ok it’s not quite as good as Vesselview but you get 90% of the data on the chart plotters and the more obscure stuff you can still pull up on the MercMonitor gauge itself. The main thing missing is alarm descriptions and troll control / eco gauge.

You can see here an Axiom plotter with the Merc gauge next to it. You get loads more data as well, pressures and temps, pretty much everything.

hi its a 2019 115 mariner and yes if its fully a Bluetooth smart craft gauge that is where its better for me a smart craft gauge and wiring would set me back a fair wedge of cash and i would have to try and get yet more cable through the already full deck trunking .this mobile version supposedly does everything and its bluetooth no cable to route and its less than £300 i already have an old smartphone that is supposedly waterproof and i can get a mountain bike waterproof phone holder for not a lot. i was just hoping i had understood it correctly and i don't need extra sensors or other things wiring in if this just plugs into the outboard and then connects to the phone by bluetooth then thats what i want

Vessel view usually plugs into loom at helm. You don’t need any extra sensors etc. They’ll be a junction box( 4 way on mine plugged into loom at back of helm. Just remove one of the caps, plug it in and connect to Bluetooth
