Lowrance Gmap3500c to Icom 421 "No Postion" "No Time"

I have been trying to get the positional info form our Gmap 3500c through to a new Icom 421, I have set the sentence formatter to the required precedence one stated in the manual and enabled the default "off" NMEA0183 output from the Lowrance. The VHF still does not seem to read the position, all connections appear to be correctly made is there a test that can be done before I start remaking the connections made so far?

Are you sure your GPS NMEA 0183 setting should be off? I believe you have turned the comm port off, relying only on the NMEA 2000 port for comm (which you apparently aren't using.)

Make sure your baud rates are the same on both units (assuming you can change it on the radio), and double check your wiring connections (in on one unit to out on the other, shield to gnd.

Simon, Have you removed the inline diode from the 3500c NMEA line? I believe this is only required for some Equipment but not ICOM.

Regards

Thanks for the replies,

I have "checked" the NMEA0183 output to other device with an "x" in the box, I didnt know there was a diode in line I shall have to consult with my colleague who did some of the fitting.
