Interfering transducers?

Hey folks,

Just bought a garmin 551, but am tempted to keep my old fashioned existing lowrance sounder, as well as having the sounder option on the gamin as the screen is apparently a bit small to use both at once. I am thinking of doing this with a view to getting a gamin sounder in the future when I have spare cash. This would obviously mean having two transducers on The transom. Would they interfere with each other?

Thanks folks

Simon

Depends on the frequencies, I have two transducers transmitting four different frequencies and they all work fine without interference.
However if its for redundancy you can always just switch the one you don't want operating at the time off?

Yeah I hoped that would be the case - so I take it if I have the garmin displaying chart only, it won't also be using the transducer in the background?

If you just want the chart capability, can't you disconnect the transducer?

Jky, I would do but the sounder on the garmin is better than my existing one, so id still want to use it at times
