Well good news in that the used G2 card works perfectly so I have full UK charts. It is slightly annoying that the company website weren't more clear about what was needed to get Bluechart onto this device but the unit itself was a bargain at £242 with 2-yr Garmin warranty so happy overall.
Some images below of my "local" launch area of choice... hope they display OK (sometimes a digicam/LCD screen interaction produces a grid/grain/banding not seen in reality).
Nice clear charts displayed onscreen and auto-rotate is a useful feature I've not had before.
