Did you not have to pay a small sum for a replacement?

They charged me £111 for a service exchange on a faulty three year old GSD22 Sonar Unit.

When my 2006C steamed up they offered an upgrade to the new 3006C for a very nominal amount, which I was more than happy with. Top marks from me.

Steaming up

I have an old Raymarine 435i plotter that was prone to steaming up.

FWIW, I did the bad thing and opened it, placed a fresh silica gel pack in the back of the housing and closed it up. No trouble since.

Obviously this voids warranties etc.

I recently wrote an email to Garmin, the exposed part of the aluminium housing was starting to corrode on my 3 year old 5012 plotter. The paint was bubbling up and the ali was starting to go powdery.

They asked me to send it to them for inspection, got a brand new unit in the post today

yep same sorta experience with them- wasnt chuffed when the plotter screen failed but it was 3 yr old and they replaced unit for around that 100 and odd quid figure. Excellent, friendly and quick service as ever, unlike the farce that was navman and whose plotter I binned rather than have further experiences with navman customer service which was in itself a contradiction in terms!

yup! same here!

had some issues with the setup on the 750s on the boat. they were fantastic. in the end, i sent them some pictures of the screens and they went through the issues 1 by 1 and sorted each one!

when we were setting the plotters up to display engine data their technical guy bent over backwards to assist and is still talking to me about what improvements they can make!

good product, great service!

Same here - except they had run out of 182Cs - so had to have a 550 instead :-)

The 20i0 and 100i Garmin VHF have a recognised fault and are due to be upgraded. Garmin have already replaced my VHF because the other one was really misted up. The modified VHF's are due to come into the uk soon.

Garmin have recognised the fault and have provided brilliant cutomer service. Send an email the the head office in Southampton.

Hopefully this should help,

Good luck, Paul
