So I have a navionics gold UK & Ireland on micro SD card bought Sept 2012 £175.

I will also sell my navionics platinium+ UK & Ireland on micro SD card for £270 as it was bought for a charter, used once, and the unit has built in up-to-date cartogrophy so not needed for a while at least. Its a few weeks old and this is 10% off the new cost.

That's more than a few places sell it new

I'd rather get one on a normal SD card anyway-I don't really like the idea of adapters. It's another link in the chain to go wrong.

Don't know about full size, but it'd be registered to me for the free updates at that price.

Good old ebay, never thought to look - you really CAN buy anything on there.

Since I cant bring myself to loose more than £50 in a week i'll keep it I guess, the 3D isnt that great (gimmic) but the aeriel photos and google earth are excellent when approaching new ports etc. The navionics "silver" built into the new 14" plotter doesn't include those features.

Anyone jelious of my plotter screen???

No worries

The HDS7 gen 2 basemap on mine is a bit of a chocolate teapot. It'll just about stop you running into dry land from a mile out.

That unit supports structure scan doesnt it?

Incrediably good sonar, if thats you'r thing - used it in real life not just at a boat show

I very nearly went simrad, NSE12 (I know your are lowrance, but all the same stuff I think) as their 3g / 4g radar seams the best on the market for a small boat, but the price was thousands more than the 14" raymarine and a bog standard 4kw dome

Yes, structurescan is on there too-just got to fit the boat itself out now!

The ability to overlay your own scans on the map is rather useful looking. I rather like fishing (it's a good excuse to stay miles away from anyone for hours on end) and it'll open up some interesting possibilities.

we met many many years ago I think when you came to view an engine I was selling on the back of an old phamtom speedboat, do you remember?

anyway, a little known but kewl feature of the simrad units is you can record the sonar to SD card (hmm, how will that work with a map in there) and then play back on the PC. I have the software somewhere if you cant find it.

Yes, fabulous chippy on the seafront

Apparently the HDS Gen2 latest update allows you to record to your map card as well.

Actually, can you check something for me please?

Does the Navionics platinum card for the whole UK cover the north coast of France? The pic on the website looks like it does, but I fell foul of Garmin doing that with the English Channel map saying it covered a big chunk of North Cornwall that it doesn't.

If not, I'll have to buy the UK south/Holland card which is a bit of a joke really.

hmm, this will be difacult as the unit has northern france built in and changes seamlessly. i'll look on the menus and see if i can tell it to only use the card as opposed to internal maps
