Cobra VHF and Garmin Striker 4

Okay one for the electric wizards- help please.

I have a Garmin Striker 4 which has a Blue Tx+ transmit and a Brown Rx+ Receive.

I’ve purchased a Cobra MBF57 fixed VHF that needs GPS input to get coordinates for DSC. The Cobra has a Yellow + data in and a Green - data in.

So, what colour goes to which to get the VHF to have GPS coordinates and therefore be able to use the DSC feature. If you can keep it not too technical then maybe I’ll be able to get it working first go without frying everything

Thanks in anticipation for any help and advice.

Going to answer my own question, a user on another forum has pointed out the Garmin doesn’t talk NMEA so I’ve upgraded to a F77 that has internal GPS built in. Sorted.

Eh! If it doesn’t talk NMEA why does it have a data in/out cable?[emoji848]

Cheers @Pikey Dave, That’s what I’d assumed but I then found out that the Garmin Striker doesn’t support NMEA. Seemed easiest option to just upgrade and avoid the faff.

This in the specs:

The Blue and Brown wires are for Garmin proprietary user data sharing only. They will not support NMEA 0183.

They are just for inter Garmin sharing.
