today, to my horror, as i leant forwards to grab my painter out of the water, i heard a 'plop' i looked down to see my borrowed yellow etrex swimming down to the bottom of the sea.

does anybody know the best place to get another etrex?

If it's any consolation at all I did the same with my handheld VHF last week.
Water-resistant it may be but 'me proof' it ain't.

This looks okay though.

Over the years:

4 x Pairs Of Police Shades
2 x Handheld VHF
1 x Dunhill Lighter
2 x Watches
2 x Pairs Specs
1 x Wallet (not funny that one)
1 x Outboard Engine
And numerous anchors that have never come up again!

I got my garmin etrex from www.a1goods.co.uk about 6 months and have had no problems with getting it.

The basic yellow etrex on there is now 79.00. I doubt whether you'll find it cheaper elsewhere.

For anyone else getting one, I'd also get a battery charger, with a couple of rechargeable batteries.

I also download all my journeys from the GPS onto my laptop, so I can see where ive been. The trouble is the memory map navigator software is quite expensive.
