AIS through plotter, cheap kit?
been thinking of getting a Garmin AIS system for one of my plotters but for 300 quid i don't think i want it that much.
I then spotted this, they claim it will output to NMEA/plotters now unlike the previous models, can get them for about £80

Anyone bit the bullet on one yet?

Don't forget to budget for a second antenna or antenna splitter.

My AIS is running fine with a 8" £6 walkie-talkie aerial plugged right on to the back of it.
I've not picked up anything over 10 miles out but frankly, if it's that far away I'm not interested
