2005 Ribcraft 585 under console access.

Hi
I have just bought a 2005 RIBCRAFT 585 Pro 3. Fantastic boat..but access under the console is tight to say the least. I would like to remove the battery to charge and maintain over winter and tidy the wiring under the console. There is a latched access door but not really enough room to do the job. Am i missing something? Does the console lift? If anyone has experience of working under the console (I believe its a pacific dual console) advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. Ok, I’ll have to come up with a cunning plan to get the battery out then.

It went in! I have twin batteries in my console & I can get them in & out with a bit of manoeuvring. Can’t you charge in-situ?

Thanks for that. Are your batteries mounted same side as fuel filler hose? Mine is. Seems to be more room on port side so may look at relocating it.

I have one on each side. The larger house battery is on the Stbd side by the filler hose. The smaller starter battery is on the port side.

We have a 6.8 Pro and if I have to do anything under the console I just remove both of the front jockey seats. Then there's plenty of room to work in there even for a large person. I once had to drain the fuel separators at sea and I was not able to remove the seats on that occasion and it was a very uncomfortable and difficult job. I don't think I'd have been able to remove the batteries (we have one each side too but I think they're identical)

Your access hatch must be on the rear on the console, most are on the front.

Thanks for the reply. I will look at removing the front Jockey seats which should make life a whole lot easier. As you say, my access hatch is at the rear. No access from the front unfortunately but that’s the trade off for having a front seat with storage underneath.

Are not the front jockeys not moulded into the deck? - most are, removing them would be quite a job.

A lot of the RCs are bolted onto a deck matrix.

Yes our hatch is on rear, we are commercial and have life raft mounted directly in front of console
