Rich,

I must confess, I haven't used Marine Power yet, I trailered my boat down to Poole last time (any excuse to get down there!), the bloke in Poole did recommend them.

I should use them really, there only 5 minutes away

I've used Marine Power for about 5 years now; they have sold me a few engines, done warranty work and services. Always very helpful and they seem to do a good job - plus they always have what I want in stock. You always see Rod at the boat shows, usually on the merc stand.

Anybody know a decent Merc agent in the Southampton area?

Anybody know a decent Honda dealer in Essex?! Last time I picked my engine up from a service the mechanic spotted a grease nipple he hadn't greased as I was about to trailer the boat away. There's only two on the engine! He also admitted to me that he'd never been on a Honda training course either - terrifying but true. I am still at a loss to understand why the marine dealer business in this country remains a cottage industry, comparable only to that of the motorcycle industry, but don't get me started on that one......

Rich, We were very satisfied with a major service on our F100 yamaha with a guy in Rainham , Essex ( just off the old A13 ). Work included changing the water impellor , synchronising the carbs and checking the seals after the obligatory length of fishing line had wound itself round the prop. Haven't got his details with me now , but will re-post either tonight/tomorrow.

He also did a good job servicing our trailer.

Yam Service Centre

The dealer in Rainham is The Boat Shop, the engineer is called steve and i would rate him as one of the best Yam fitters i've ever used, people i know that buy boats from around the country always use steve to service their engines (Yams), he also services trailers and fits electronics and a wizard with Waverunners.

Thanks all. Booked it in at The Boat Shop Essex, as it's the nearest and comes "highly recommended".

Steve was well chuffed with your comments so next time .. ask him for a discount

Thx

Rich

For future reference, the Yamaha dealer/service centre closest to central London is Chas Newens Marine on the embankment at Putney. They do a very good job.
