Yamaha Malta Won’t Start - CDI Fault?
Hi all, I’ve recently bought a Yamaha Malta and have enjoyed tinkering and getting it tidied up. Mechanically things are now great but I have an issue with the electrics.
I have removed the kill button and instead installed a kill switch and cord (safety first!), which earths the white wire when the kill cord is pulled out. The issue is that one noticed that the white wire is now earthed all the time! Hence not starting.
Has anyone every experienced anything similar and - if so - can you give any advice before I spend a long time with a multimeter. I’ve already removed all the wires from the CDI unit and then set it back up, correctly, and the white wire appeared to not be earthed then. But upon trying to start (unsuccessfully) and re-testing I can see that the white wire is earthed again all the time!
