Yamaha F30?

A bit off topic boat wise - a fishing boat not a rib or sib [emoji85] one I’m looking at comes with what I think is a Yam F30 four stroke. Waiting on exact details from owner.

Wondered if anyone knew of them, if yes a good or avoid reputation? Click image for larger version

We had two in our mini fleet for the last 10+ years, both long shaft manual start with carbs. Main problems are dirty fuel clogging the idle ports in the carbs, had one gearbox go and one got dunked which has been the cause of several breakdowns.
Very heavy to pull start - the ladies really struggle, even heavier to handle on and off. Gas assisted variable tilt worked very well.

Overall good engine, smooth and economical but a heavyweight.

Thanks for the reply. Hoping not to have to lift it on/off at all - about 100kg so not possible by myself.

Has electric start and tilt/trim/long shaft so about as heavy as they could be.

From the little info out there they seem to be a reliable lump, now I’ve got the serial number I found this post https://www.rib.net/forum/f36/yamaha...ist-68937.html so sounds like I need to hear it idling, watch for smoke and solenoid clicks
