Yamaha F150 idle speed

So finally got my RIB back from its Autumn service

Despite the time taken, all seems good. Apart from one issue...

The tickover speed wont go below 800RPM, have adjusted the screw and the idle goes from 1800 down to 800 then starts climbing again!

Need to get it to about 650.

Assuming this is not a drive by wire engine, disconnect the 33c control cable to make sure it’s not the cable. Your engine has an idle speed control valve which sounds like it’s sticking. You simply cannot tinker around with the idle speed on this engine. I advise you to take this to a Yamaha dealer.

Thanks Davie, yeah its a cable ('08) version.

Its only just back from a Yamaha main dealer with an idle speed of 950 when I picked it up.

I did check the cable was not putting tension on.

Get the laptop back on it and do an active test done on the idle speed control valve.

Taking it back to the Yam dealer sounds like a sensible next step, or... I can send you the PDF service manual (assuming it's a F150A)

Thanks Davie, will do!

And thanks Monkey, but taking it back to those useless bags of faff is not high on my list! Go the manual though, thanks again.

I had the exact same issue, I removed the injectors and cleaned them and was perfect afterwards
