Out of interest, what sort of fuel consumption are you getting at cruising speed with the 2 115s?

at 25 knots, about 40litres, 30 knots about 50... 43 knots 80ish

Thats certainly a little juicy! My opti is burning 36 litres/hour at 33 knots and about 52 litres/hour at 40 knots. My average burn over the 23 hours I've run so far is about 1.1 or 1.2 litres/hour.

On one engine, I can do 25 knots for about 30 L/hr...

its the fact I have more drag in the water, more weight at back of the boat... etc...

The extra cost in fuel is far outweighed by the safety of having two completely seperate systems (fuel tank, battery, engine)... if either engine/fuel tank/battery fails, I still have 25 knots in her to get me home.

A lot of people have small auxilleries on there 6.5m+ boats, which would struggle to push them against the tide/wind... I quite like the fact that, say if mid channel the engine failed for whatever reason, I could still get back without the need for a tow

you must mean 1.1 to 1.2 litres per mile?

very interested in any stats you have as i have an opti 200 as well, what prop are you running, max speed, oil consumption etc

Oops - wishful thinking there! Yes, of course, it's 1.1/1.2 litres/nm.

Ouch, not sure I would want to invest my hard earned in them then. A pair of Opti 150's would be delicious, and theres lots of deals going on them (PM Hugh Jardon). Probably wouldn't do too much to the economy but the grin factor would be there!!
