Yamaha 90A Lower unit gear plate

I am servicing the whole lower unit.

Any ideas on how I am going to get this off without breaking it?

It's old brittle plastic - been on there at least 5 -10 years - maybe never changed ever.

I give my chances as very low to none - I have aleady broken the base plate for the water pump that was fused in...

Maybe I should just buy a new plate and accept my fate.

Itís a shift rod plate. Donít think they are that expensive, but before you dive in there, just check the part is readily available. Looks like part number 688-45321-00-00. Thereís an Ďoí ring under there too youíll need to replace. Double check on the new part based on the serial number of your engine.
Is that with or without VAT?
