Yamaha 40 2 stroke...

I have a 1995 triple cylinder 40 hp 2 stroke, its auto choke for 30 seconds and then cuts the revs down to idle tickover..
Problem is, when it on the choke, its revving its tits off at 2500 revs.
Does anybody know if this can be adjusted and bought down a bit?

Thankyou!

Or can anybody confirm that it should be revving at 2500 whilst on choke? i would much sooner have a manual choke instead, but im not sure that can be done?

You can operate the choke manually via the little red leaver by the air box it has 3 settings auto emergency (on) & off mine doesn't work so first start of the day I flick to emergency start the engine then immediately flick to off & that's it for the day trouble is you need to take the cover off for the first start of the day

It doesn't rev at 2500 rpm when it's on so maybe yours is out of adjustment
I've never investigated how it works but I'd guess there is some adjustment somewhere
Fixing it has been on the to do list for years but never seems to move up the priority scale as it works as it is

Thanks Beamish Ken! ive looked at the red choke tab, it says open or close, but cant see anything that moves to adjust the revs. It stays on for 30 seconds, everytime and seems to cut down to low speed idle 'electrically'.
if i could somehow 'disable' the auto choke and just use the red tab manually, i would!

There should be 3 positions one of which disables the auto choke
