Yam 40hp YEAR ?

Hi,


engine Yamaha 40hp 4 stroke


my understanding & from my lists the R on the lower righthand side is the year ( 2002 ) in the horizontal label

in the vertical label the 2001 and MODEL 02 does this mean the engine was manufactured in 2001 & is a 2002 model ?




not often I ask about an engine age..........

I've got a 2008 Mercury made in 2007

This means the CE marking took place in 2001 and the model has been unchanged since then..

I also have a 1976 Merc 500 50hp.............


the Yam is my engine

I am thinking of selling my Rib / engine & just want to know what the info on the vertical label means, just in case any "wise crack" comes to view ...........
