What's this 'ere then? Mariner / Yam 30

I took lots of photos before I took the carb and inlet off this Mariner-badged Yamaha-built 30 hp 2 stroke (ex 1990's contract). I have this spring left over and can't see it in my piccies. 😳

Does anyone perchance have a similar engine and could have a look please?😉

It actually looks like the spring on the anti reverse locking bar

That sounds promising, A1an, but you'll have to give me more of a clue please - that's a new term to me!

Many thanks,
Hugh

Sorry. I know you said it was carb/inlet but I don't recall one of those.

Does your engine have some sort of device on the yoke to stop the engine lifting when you try to reverse?

That spring is ALMOST identical to the one on a Mariner 60.

Ah, that thing! It does and the spring is similar but it's still there.

I'm sure this came from the choke / carb somewhere.

I can't see it in the manuals. I will have a poke around in the daylight tomorrow

My guess is the throttle butterfly spring is broken and somebody has fitted that instead. Your engine did not have that spring when it left the factory.

Thanks. A re-bodge is required then.
