urgent outboard id required please

Evening all
Currently down in Cornwall on holiday and friends are looking to buy a little waveline sib but need help on engine year if anyone can help.
Its a Mercury 2 stroke short shaft engine serial number 09623661.
Seller thinks its a 1996 can anyone confirm.

I think it's 1990.

We have a great little Zodiac 340 package with a Yamaha 9.9hp 4 stroke if that's any good. All 2009 on a Bramber trailer.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Will see what this morning brings.After a little digging round for prices I'm thinking it may be a little pricey.
Seller is looking for £900 for 2010 waveline 270 and the 8 hp Mercury also 3 life jackets.

No worries with the Zodiac, it's only just one in anyway. We also have a 2008 QS380 but it's not quite ready yet as we are awaiting new side rails to arrive.

Like last time he could "borrow" one if you just wanted to get on the water,
