Trim gauge connection for tohatsu

I have a 70hp tohatsu engine (about '96 model) and a mercury trim gauge I got for a fiver (brand new).

My question is, can I use the gauge with the sender on my engine? My dad tells me there are 4 connections coming from the sender, but can't see how these will fit on the mercury gauge. Apparently a tohatsu gauge has 4 terminals on it.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Tim
