It is technically a 2 stroke, but low emissions, DFI (Direct Fuel Injection). Oil is mixed wit gas and injected into the cylinders. Great Engine design.

God day jose fley,
I owned a 40hp Evinrude E-Tech bought brand new in 2005 and now I have a 90hp (2006 model bought used in 2010). The only problem I ever have was with the integrated oil reservoir, both have been changed because of a small leak in the weld after about 5 years of use. So check that carefully. That said I’m very happy with this engine since they are light weight and very reliable. I appreciate the ease of winterizing and the ease of start the next year, or quite often the next week because of another beautiful day that cannot be miss… Too bad they don’t make them anymore.
