Thank you Barrus

As per previous post, our counter rotating gearbox had begun to fail for a third time in less than 3 years, whilst the "normal" right hand one was still fine. The only option deemed suitable was to upgrade to the larger and stronger HD gearboxes on both engines. The cost of purchase alone was £8000+
Our service agent put in a request to Barrus for a "goodwill" exchange. This was quickly approved in the UK and we then had to wait for approval from Belgium. The new items arrived before any news from Belgium and they were fitted to the Parker by Yellow Penguin in just over 2 hours (along with another full service).
On Tuesday we finally got confirmation that Barrus had agreed to provide the exchange of gearboxes as a goodwill gesture.
The Verado engines are second to none is quality and performance and now with strong and robust gearboxes, should continue to put a smile on the face of all our customers for sometime to come. Most seem to go round to the rear of the RIB on return to the Quay, just to look at what has been giving them a push in the back whilst out at sea.
A massive thank you to Barrus

Steve

RIBase
I understand that you will have had to move to a non-shock absorbing, racing solid propeller hub kit. If your old gear boxes were non HD 5.44 inch, have you changed propellers due to the change in gear ratio?
