Suzuki DT8 water flush hose connect port

So I usually stick the engine in a tub of fresh water to run the salt out of it, but I was looking at using a hose on the inlet port instead.

Does anyone here do it that way? The manual says to stick gaffer tape on the water grill under the plate. Wow that's hi tech.

Looking at the flush point screw its around 10mm but Not quite M10 thread, i'm almost tempted to retap it M10 and make a stainless adaptor to garden hose and replace the screw with a short M10 allen head bolt and washer if its going to keep getting removed to flush it.

I think this is what Suzuki sell for the port

The hose flush port is not recommended by a lot of the Pros.....plenty advice on YouTube...
Muffs alike aren't as good IME...I've always flushed mine (250 DF) ..in a Water Butt (loft tank you can pick up at any reclamation centre cheaply works well) and by far the best method foe me.
Stick to what you're doing is my advice

Thats a pity, I was hoping to make life easier for my neighbours by hose flushing with the engine off. I have a tank of water I use now but its so loud between houses I was hoping to be considerate.

More my point that salt desolves in warm water better, with muffs it's cold going in all the time from the mains
