Suzuki dt 90 2 stroke

Hello there all. Please can someone offer me advice on buying a 1999 suzuki dt90 2 stroke. Any known issues with this engine and are spares readily available? Many thanks in advance people for your time.

Hours? Condition? Corrosion? Compression test?
Personally I'd pay a outboard specialist to give it a quick once over if your unsure - won't be that expensive and might save you alot in the long run ,good luck

Old Suzuki's suffered quite bad with salt/ corrosion build up and none functioning oil injection.
Some may say different but they would be bottom of my list
If i was looking for an older engine I'd start with yamaha at the top then mercury/mariner, Omc evinrude/ johnson (avoid fitch) Suzuki at the bottom
Others may disagree but that's how I'd draw my list of preferences
That said if its clean and runs well it could go on for a long time. Some parts may be a bit scarce as they've been out of production for a while now. Thats the benefit of the yams they still sell old school two strokes in other countries so parts availability is better

Thanks very much for your advice folks. I am thinking of going down the yamaha 90 route but was just considering other options. Im looking for an engine for a 5.4 avon searider and as mentioned before the yam90 seems to be favourite. Looks like I will have to savemy pennies. Many many thanks for your input
