Hi, I also have one of these horrible things, and it is basically an old pre 06 design Yamaha F4 to F6 hp engine. Actually mine runs fine , it just sounds like a bag of nails!! The fuel valve control description in the Hidea manual seems to contradict the Yamaha manual. Yamaha indicate fuel valve closed to left, external tank valve fully right, and internal tank in mid position. Might be worth a try, good luck.

Mine will quite happily run dry so quarter full should be OK. Don't take this the wrong way but I assume you have loosened the vent screw on the filler cap.

stripped the carb out checked the float it was reassuringly clean .poked the injector and give it a good blowjob ....rebuilt the engine pumped on some fuel and voila it fired ! i had to turn it off sharp as it is watercooled ,it did occur to me it could be a fault on the killswitch not fully enaged lol ..i`m turning into dave knight, the father in law (rip) arhhhhhlooking forward to tommorow when i test tank it
