Stainless prop

Hi all,

Has anyone on here have any experience with either turning point or Michigan propellers please?

I’m after a new ss prop for my Yamaha and I’m looking at either the ballistic or Apollo prop from Michigan props or the mach3 or Mach4 from turning point.

Both are available in UK.

Any experience or advice would be greatly appreciated

Craig

I should of had a turning point delivered last week but due to sudden lockdowns over here in Oz it should be here this week instead. I ordered a turning point Aluminium 4 blade as I couldn't find anyone with a quicksilver Q4 in stock. Should have more info soon once mine arrives, which I can compare to several other props I recently tested.

I have had stainless Michigan’s, Turning points, Solas, Quicksilver/ Merc, Yamaha and various others.

I would probably rate Turning Point a little bit higher than Michigan Apollo. Michigan Ballistic however is excellent on the right boat.

I have a ballistic on a 6.5m. Excellent bit of kit, very smooth, quite economical and michigan in Newton Abbot are good to deal with.

RIBase
Ballistic are good props, but I'd choose a stainless Yamaha or Mercury prop over one

Tested the turning point today, gets the thumbs up for a budget prop. 13.25 x 17 aluminium.

Im getting better holeshot, better handling in rough conditions, staying on the plane at lower speeds. Top end speed was the same as the 13 7/8 x 17 solas stainless and rpm much the same. This prop did let me trim up higher without blowing out on calmer water.

Other props Ive tested were Solas Amita 4 blade which got the same rpm but dropped 10kh and felt a bit slower on take off.

Solas 13 x 17 stainless hit the rpm limiter at 6500.

Solas 13 x 19 4 blade stainless dropped rpm to 5800 and matched top speed of the turning point.

Todays test was over 127km of varying sea conditions offshore. I will keep the 13 7/8 x 17 as a backup.
