Repair or Replace

I have a couple of props from a local organisation who run small rescue boats with 15hp outboards. They operate in a fairly shallow lake and seem quite good at bending props.

So far the answer has been to replace them each time. Is repair even an option on such small outboards or by the time the workshop has done anything too them is it just cheaper to renew?

Cost of a new prop is around £120.

Any thoughts?

Hi Chris, at £120 I presume they are buying OE props. Why not try an aftermarket prop at nearer a third of the cost.
I wanted a lesser pitch prop to increase the RPM on a 15hp Mercury EFI, I was quoted £160 for an OE prop. I bought an aftermarket prop of the same pitch and size from SSI Marine (https://ssimarine.co.uk) for £48. Great quality, I couldn't tell the difference between the OE prop and the aftermarket prop, and the pitch was exactly what I was after.

Yes steel developments and others will repair small aluminium props. Last time I looked it was about £40 + postage. Not sure if you've got a few identical ones if there's any saving in only setting up the equipment once - worth a call.
