Power Trim/Tilt Cylinder leak

Hi All,

My 2001 F115's trim/tilt cylinder is leaking oil and the oil itself seems to have been contaminated (turned whitish). I obviously presumed that the end seals (O-Ring & Dust Seal) would require replacement and the system will need to be bled and filled with fresh fluid.

When I checked with the Yamaha dealer here, he gave me a quote that included replacement of the Piston Sub Assy. When I checked with him on that, he said that the end cap is very difficult to open in old engines and the entire piston sub assy would require replacement.

Have any of you had a similar experience and what is the procedure for removal of the subject assy. Also, do you have to remove the assy to bleed the system and re-fill oil?
