Parts

Hi,

Anybody know where you can buy/purchase online or over the telephone spare parts for Outboards at reasonable prices.

At the moment I have to get parts from the US for my Mercury. Its cheaper and quicker.

Most places in the UK only do it over the net. They take ages to reply and cost a fortune.

I have tried Keypart and haven't been impressed.

What I need is somebody who can supply Gasket sets and other service parts for a Mercury Blueband at reasonable prices.

All UK quotes I get are twice the price of US parts and then add postage.

Any help would be appreciated.

If not its back to the good old US.

Regards Nick R.

Hello Nick, hows your new RIB going?

I must admit that spares for outboards is generally cheaper in the US than here in the UK. I think it's something about the fact that boating is classes a lesuire activity and have premiums attached.

Can't help you with regards the spares situation, but will be quite interested in any good UK based spares suppliers as I'll be getting my Merc at the end of the week.

It is quite a big difference in prices between US and Europe in most cases it will be cheaper to by directly from US.

Andy it will be great seeing your boat with good old Mercy on the back, I may pop in on you next Saturday to have a look

Hi Andy,

On the whole the Ribs in pretty good shape for the new season which for me starts mid March.

Because i've started to muck around with outboard engines now and found that many of the general service items aren't outside of my capabilities I really need to find somewhere I can buy the service items so I can keep the engine in good shape.

I'm really only looking for gasket sets for Carbs, water pump, PTT pump and an impellor as these seem to be the parts that require servicing annually.

The last place I ended up getting parts from was the US. I paid $40 for two complete carb gasket and pump sets and some other parts. In the UK i was quoted around £100 for the same parts. Unfortunately postage from the US was fixed at $46 (More than the price of the parts, but still cheaper than the UK).

Can anybody recommend anywhere to buy such consumable parts at a reasonable price ?

Regards Nick R.
