opti economy

took a 7.4 ribcraft for a short spin today , 5 onboard and a max of 20 nautical miles and it took 50 litre of fuel can this be right, running at no more than 4k rpm and 30 mph, if this is economy at 2.5 litres per, ill be holding onto the df 140

I was running a 250 opti last year on a 7.4 redbay. Normally ran at 2 litres a mile so sounds about right. Oil munch was 1 litre of oil to 40 litres of fuel. A WOT it would drink 85 litres an hour! Still can't beat the growl in the air though.... Mind you if it was a 150 it would be a little under powered and drink more

Sounds about right, mine uses about 8-9 gallons an hour cruising at 30knots. Double that if you want to go somewhere nearer 40knots.
On the round island it used about 70 litres of fuel and 1.5 litres of oil at about 25 knots mostly (roughly 55nm).

2.5L/Nm at 4000 rpm? What size of engine was this???!!!

I was getting 2.6L/Nm from twin 300hp Suzukis on a 10m RIB!

Something's off here? I'd hold onto the Suzi 140 too - lovely wee engine, very frugal & light.

My 200hp on a 6.5m Vipermax averaged 1 litre to 1 mile over the time I had it

I have a 200opti on a 6.5redbay. At just under 4k revs, @28 Kts using 33-34 ltrs an hour. WOT @72 ltrs an hour for 47kts.
Have to say am pretty happy with it. Steady cruise but great bursts of speed if wanted and supper quick acceleration.
