New engine for Osprey Vipermax 6.5

It is time for us to get a new engine for our Vipermax. At the moment, we have a Yamaha 150 vmax HPDI from 02.

We are looking at the Suzuki DF175 and found it at a reseller here in Sweden for £14 000 (including installation, prop, analog gauges and throttle). It is brand new. Is this a good deal or would it be cheaper to buy one from for example the UK and import it to Sweden?

Also how much do you guys think we could expect to get for our old engine? All wires will need to be redone in the engine, but it runs great, has good compression in all cylinders.

What do you guys think about fuel consumption between the old Yamaha and the new Suzuki?

Well were not too interested in another 2-stroke because of the cost and hassle with oil and the optimax doesn't seem to be very reliable either...

We found the problem with our yamaha. Dead ECU. Found a used ECU on eBay that seem to be from the same type of engine (150 vmax hpdi). It is in the USA though and the engine number of the "donor" engine isn't the same as ours. What do you guys think, would it still work? My thought is that maybe the numbers are just different for different markets, but still the same engine.

A used ECU is a lot cheaper to get than a new engine. Worth a try if that means that we could get a few more years from the engine.

There should be a few ECUs around for that motor. They weren't known for their longevity.....

From memory, Rickuk3, who owns the Cosgrove Narrowboat Company had an entire 150HPDI sat around-might be worth contacting him. Google gets you the number.
