It depends on the model. I've got a manual for a Mariner 30 which was actually a Yamaha Origin rebadged. Somewhere around the early 90's, I guess.

When you know, let me know.

and IIRC it had a R in the bottom left corner of the Engine number Plate.

On a more serious note...........

...........give Bill Higham Marine a call on 0161 790 7678. Ask for Bill or his son Simon. They operate a veritable Aladdin's Cave of oldish (no insult intended)engines and stuff associated with the same.

i'm waiting to hear from Bill Higham about my Tiller arm kit.

Then i might just test it and see how it performs with it on (plenty of weight in the bow anyway)

Would you believe.........

......I live less than 2 miles from Bill Higham Marine, therefore, if you need anything picking up, feel free to let me know, further I have a very good understanding with the little dumpy girl who works in our post room, if you get my drift, nudge nudge - wink wink. It's amazing how far the ocassional box of biscuits will go !! (sometimes all the way to Austraila FOC)

Hi folks

Hmmm, 25/30 hp on a 3m sib? I must admit that it sounds a bit too much. As you may have seen from previous threads I've had to take special measures to keep the nose down on my 3.4 when I'm going solo and I have the maximum allowed 15hp. However if the plate says 25 hp.....

The main problem is the shaft length. The sib will most certainly have been designed for a SHORT shaft engine. The longer shaft will alter the handling and tend to lift the bow. Even an engine well within the hp limit but with a LONG shaft would cause problems. A combination of over power/extra rear weight/shaft too long would not be good

A 380.......

........rolls away to not much more than most other smaller sibs. It will certainly fit in the back of a landy with room to spare. Further, a 380 is a whole lot of boat capable of so much more than anything below 3 mtrs (and before you all start - oh yes it is)

I have a pal sellin this one for around £1500 ish with a lovely 15 on the tail.

mine is actually around 360

I think...

Without actually finding out more about the model i dont know other than rough measurements i took myself.

but no one has ever heard of a Astral AS30

Edit: if i could afford £1500 for a boat i wouldnt have this problem

(Engine, Boat, Fuel tank and a few other items are all freebies from different people)

If you need anything to get you going let us (the collective forum) know, I'm sure we've got plenty of odds and sods lying around that may assit you. I've a bloody shed and garage full, I'm a terrible hoarder.

Right now i need a 20-30hp short shaft engine... Just as long as it runs i dont mind if it needs a bit of work (the yamaha needed at least a new Tiller arm and fitting kit as it was operated remotely)

and i'd gladly swap the Long Shaft one for it...
