Mercury tiller extension recommendations?

Specifically for a Mariner/Mercury 15. I made a simple one for my Tohatsu from slotted PVC pipe secured with SS hose clips but the Mercury has a quite chunky handle tapering from around 40mm to 48mm and despite a box full of various pipes and tubes in all materials I'm struggling.

Anyone bought one of the typical £25 jobs on eBay or can recommend something (they looked a bit flimsy to me).

Or a source for tapered tubing from say 45mm to 25mm??

I've got a Suzuki 4hp & the tiller handle is the same dimensions as you give for your Mercury.
I've got one of the aluminium extensions which is 24" collapsed & 40" at full length. Can be locked at any length in between. Works fine.
No idea as to the maker as there's nothing on it & I can't remember where I bought it but it looks like one of these: Telescopic Outboard Motor/Tiller Extension Handle 24"-40" | eBay

Yep, that's the type I was looking at - just concerned at how secure it is in rougher handling with just a thumbscrew to secure it?

I've got one of these extendible ones for my mariner 9.9 on a 3.8 sib.

It's very well built and once it's on it's not coming off.

One thing I'd say though is that I use it without the extra extension as it's just too long! If I was to buy again I'd go for the fixed length version instead

Max I have one like this and with its U-clamp type design rather than the pipe type that slides over the grip it will fit the more chunky tillers.

Mine looks exactly like that but is probably 20yrs old so may not be exactly the same model but it's the principle of how it fits that makes it useful.

Thanks for that, it's given me an idea of how I could certainly make one that way.
