Mercury engine advice

Hello,

Wondering if anyone can tell me a little more about my outboard, it's a Mercury 50 thunderbolt 2stk is about as much as I know about her.

Can anyone tell me a rough age and the best place to get a service kit / parts?

When i put it inyo gear it sounds likd it crunches slightly.. Albeit there seems to be no issues once in gear.

Lastly in some chop the outboard cuts out slightly / bogs. The engine doesnt stop at all. My thought is the primer bulb is maybe a bit soft and past it, would the bouncing about potentially cause it to crease and therefor stop the fuel getting through very briefly? Or is this purley cavitation?!

RIBase
Put it into gear quicker it a dog clutch and needs to be a positive gear change.
Primer bulb and fuel line might need replacing they don't last forever.
For service parts you will need engine serial number Google Mercury parts or try pacer marine, Ron hale marine, fenlander might be along soon he has had mercs and better placed to inform than me.

Cheers

to check the model year of your OBM, log onto the brunswick marine download centre, and with your serial number trace your s/n on their lists. Just a tip ordering spares to be on the safe side always have the serial number handy, because sometimes there is a serial number break on parts.

I'm guessing this 50 might be 70s/80s? A picture and serial no. would help loads.

But in general my experience is Seagull... inboards... 80s Mariners... 90s/00s Mercury/Mariner/Tohatsu... so I passed by the old Thunderbolts.
