Mercury 100hp efi

MERCURY 100HP EFI

Started my outboard today and ran it in a tub.

last started it end of november.

when i first turned the key today no water out of tell tale after 1 - 2mins so stopped it.

started it again and after 2mins water started to come out. water was in splurts and wasn't completely constant like it was last time i started.
didn't have a long piece of wire to hand but just a short piece of wire so could only push so far in. put a garden hose up to it also.

water coming out of tell tale wasn't as strong as before but wasn't too bad.
reved up a little and obviously got a bit stronger flow.

must get a longer but of wire to push up.

any idea why it took so much longer than last time for water to start coming out?

we've had very cold conditions since i last started.

there was a great flow last time when i started in tub.

Dropping Engine into local mechanic next week.

Just one thing i'm wondering, could this be "Grommet" or is my engine free of this? Its 2006.

Anyone any experience of this with Mercury 2006 EFI?

hope its just an impeller issue
