I believe the 100HP Merc 4 stroke is a new model along with the 80HP 4 stroke. The only comment I would make is you would probably get a better deal on a 115HP 4 -Stroke because its an older model.
Is this for your Quicksilver 620?

The engine is bassed on the Yamaha engine. In America it is badged as 75hp and 90hp, instead of 80 and 100. Shouldn't be any problems as the block is tried and tested with Yamaha and Mariner have been running their fuel injection systems for a while so no worries there. No new technology to worry about just a new combination of block and fuel system.

Good luck with the new boatm not sure it will match the ViperMax, although you will have some protection from the elements.
