Merc 50 2 stroke..

Hi all

Got a Merc 1989 2 stroke 50hp.

It's ok at idle but dies or spurts and dies or does not accelerate at all..
Good compression , new HT leads and new fuel lines. . What you think it might be ?

Dealer says might be knackered .

Other point is that it can't seem to find the lock when it's lowered into use mode ! So in reverse it jumps up

Classic carburettor trouble. Get a decent mechanic to take them apart, clean them out (ideally ultrasonically) and then rebuild. You'll probably be looking at ~£200-300 ish for a proper job.

Less likely to be totally "knackered".

As for the other, guessing this model doesn't have power trim?
