Mariner 4hp , fantastic engine

Just thought I'd show off my new-to-me mariner (yam) 4hp. Not been started for 5 years... Didn't event bother changing the fuel although I will do before first outing.... Started second pull and ran quiet as a mouse until I turned the fuel off. What a machine!! Click image for larger version

I have one of these too... they are the modern Seagull... so simple and as you've found can be pulled out of the shed after years and run perfectly.

Great engines. I run one as an auxilliary.

Fit a new spark plug, renew the starter rope and replace the impeller and gear oil. Might not have been started for 5 years, but it still needs serviced.

Yeah will service it bar the rope, which looks like it's only been pulled 3 times from new! It's a minter! Will probably sell it on once I've got some cash for a 9.9...

The only weak point in those engines is the fuel shut off. The plastic bit that the stainless rod attaches to nearest the tank splits.

I've had two break.
