Lower unit oil question.

Hello,
I have a 2007 Tohatsu 90TLDi engine where I want to change the lower unit oil.

Can I replace the oil in it with Quicksilver high performance gear oil ?
I ask because the oil that came out looks like regular oil and the high performance is green...

Thanks for advice.

Are you still runing your original Tohatsu oil ? If that's so, you should have changed it after first 10/20 hours. Oil color is not important at all, but must be 80-90 grade to lube gears properly. After break in period, you should change your leg oil every 100 worked hours.

Happy Boating

I had one once that when I used the high performance quicksilver oil it would not shift into reverse properly. After striping the gearbox and finding it immaculate I ended up using Volvo penta synthetic transmission oil which is a fully synthetic 75w90 oil which cured the problem completely.
